Tony Reed, Helen Stephens, Dominic Minns, Juliet Tzabar and Alex JonesThings are hotting up here at Plug-in (despite the sub-zero temperatures) as we are thrilled to announce we won a Children’s BAFTA award in the Interactive category for our groundbreaking CBeebies web project: The Big Coconut Adventure, created for hit TV show, ZingZillas!

The Big Coconut Advenure is an online environment for children to explore the island world of monkey band, the ZingZillas, learning about music along the way.  It is packed with a variety of different sound-making games and culminates in the Big Zing where kids can use their webcams to play along with the band using innovative motion detection technology.

The Children’s BAFTAs were presented by Barney Harwood at a glittering ceremony in London on Sunday 30th November. This year’s win is our our second BAFTA award in two consecutive years – the first being for CBeebies Big and Small Online, which won in the same Interactive Category in December 2009.

We were up against some serious contenders for the Interactive category: Aardman Digital for ‘Home Sheep Home’ Conker Media for BBC Switch with ‘The Well by Mervin Burgess’ and Tate Kids and The Royal Ballet School with ‘The Secret Dancer’.

We managed to pin the directors down for a quote and this what they gave us:

Dom, through the bubbles and the excitement said he felt, “Stunned, honoured and happy to have had the opportunity to work on such a brilliant project with so many wonderful people.”

While Juliet said, “ZingZillas was our most ambitious project to date and a complete delight to put together from start to finish.  The team here at Plug-in along with the interactive and TV teams at CBeebies, and animation company Blue Zoo, all worked seamlessly together as a single team to pull off a hugely multi-faceted production.  It’s fantastic that BAFTA chose to recognise this stunning achievement.”

Everyone at Plug-In Media is incredibly proud, excited and looking forward to what they’ll have ready for next year’s ceremony – we’re going for a hatrick!
