Senior Unity Developer

Plug-in Media is a BAFTA-winning digital media production company that delivers engaging, interactive entertainment for children and families. We blend animation, gaming and narrative with great design and first-class technical development to produce work that is visually stunning, technically groundbreaking and with great storytelling and humour at its core.

Job Description:

Plug-in Media is looking to recruit a Senior Unity Developer to work in their studio in central Brighton, We typically have a range of diverse and exciting projects across several technologies and platforms, and are looking for someone who will take an active (and highly important) role in bringing these to life alongside our small team of highly skilled Developers.

As a Senior Developer, you’ll have great enthusiasm for the web/mobile technology industries, and experience developing with a range of associated technologies. You’ll have an excellent standard of competence using Unity and an understanding of HTML5/Javascript game development would be an advantage although not essential. You’ll also have tinkered with some platform native code using the core Android and iOS SDKs.

Skills Range:

Key responsibilities:

You will play a pivotal senior role within our development team, working to deliver games and apps on the web, and on mobile devices.

Essential experience & skills:

  • Experience in writing, debugging and optimising scripts in C# using Unity
  • Good mastery of the Unity toolset, and competency at 3D game architecture and construction
  • Development credit on a full mobile game available in an app store
  • A solid grasp of mathematics for games (vectors, physics and geometry)
  • Practised knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git/Github
  • A team player with good communication skills and a sense of humour
  • Familiarity with the state of all things ‘mobile’

Desirable experience & skills:

Experience with Javascript/HTML5 for game development (possibly using an engine such as Phaser or EaselJS).

No fear of the Command Line Interface (terminal) on Linux/MacOS systems

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR ART APPLICANTS:

Responsibilities:

Attend daily team meetings and familiarise yourself with the projects currently in development at Plug-In

Take the opportunity to learn from the art team about the various roles and responsibilities for artists in game development and animation

Help out with creating game and animation art assets with the support of the Junior and Lead artists

Key skills and requirements:

  • - Some experience with one or more relevant industry softwares, including: Photoshop, Illustrator, Spine, Animate and Unity
  • - Evidence of drawing and/or animation skills
  • - Positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude

Reporting to: Art Director

Location: Plug-In Media Office, Brighton

 

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DEVELOPER APPLICANTS:

Responsibilities:

Work independently to develop skills in aspects of game programming

Study and practice with current standard tools associated with game development

Ask questions and seek guidance when necessary, but otherwise take the full opportunity to proactively self-learn, within in the atmosphere of a professional game development agency

Key skills and requirements:

  • - Some programming experience
  • - Positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude
