Senior Unity Developer

Plug-in Media is a BAFTA-winning digital media production company that delivers engaging, interactive entertainment for children and families. We blend animation, gaming and narrative with great design and first-class technical development to produce work that is visually stunning, technically groundbreaking and with great storytelling and humour at its core.

Job Description:

Plug-in Media is looking to recruit a Senior Unity Developer to work in their studio in central Brighton, We typically have a range of diverse and exciting projects across several technologies and platforms, and are looking for someone who will take an active (and highly important) role in bringing these to life alongside our small team of highly skilled Developers.

As a Senior Developer, you’ll have great enthusiasm for the web/mobile technology industries, and experience developing with a range of associated technologies. You’ll have an excellent standard of competence using Unity and an understanding of HTML5/Javascript game development would be an advantage although not essential. You’ll also have tinkered with some platform native code using the core Android and iOS SDKs.

Our busy studio has a positive and cheerful atmosphere, where everyone’s voice is heard. We have regular company get-togethers, BBQs, outings and show-and-tells. Key responsibilities:

You will play a pivotal senior role within our development team, working to deliver games and apps on the web, and on mobile devices.

Essential experience & skills:

  • Experience in writing, debugging and optimising scripts in C# using Unity
  • Good mastery of the Unity toolset, and competency at 3D game architecture and construction
  • Development credit on a full mobile game available in an app store
  • A solid grasp of mathematics for games (vectors, physics and geometry)
  • Practised knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git/Github
  • A team player with good communication skills and a sense of humour
  • Familiarity with the state of all things ‘mobile’

Desirable experience & skills:

Experience with Javascript/HTML5 for game development (possibly using an engine such as Phaser or EaselJS).

No fear of the Command Line Interface (terminal) on Linux/MacOS systems

Junior Games Developer

Plug-in Media is looking to recruit a Junior Games Developer to work in their busy studio in the heart of central Brighton, not far from the station and the North Laine area. We typically have a range of diverse and exciting projects across several technologies and platforms, and are looking for someone who will take an active (and highly important) role in bringing these to life alongside our small team of very skilled Developers!

Our busy studio has a positive and cheerful atmosphere, where everyone’s voice is heard. It’s true to say that while everyone here works hard, we all have a lot of fun doing it! We have regular company get togethers, barbeques, outings and show-and-tells. Other employee benefits include: up to 25 days holiday a year, an employer-contributed company pension scheme, sandwich Thursdays and free fruit!

As a Junior Developer, you’ll have great enthusiasm for the web/mobile technology industry, and experience developing with a range of technologies. You’ll be on your way to an excellent standard of competence using HTML5/JavaScript, and you’ll be comfortable working with Unity. You’ll also have (possibly) tinkered with some platform native tools using the core Android and iOS SDKs. You’ll know that today’s Developer is something of a ‘jack of all trades’ where specific tools are concerned; you might not be an expert in Obj-C for example, but you’ll be well up for (and highly capable of) the challenge of gaining professional competence with it it, if it turns out to be the right tool for the job! We make games - the specific technology used is variable, depending on the job!

We welcome applications from Developers coming from a keen hobbyist or university-leaver type of situation, looking for a junior role.

  • An insatiable hunger for developing existing talents in game development
  • Desirable experience & skills:

    • Experience with Javascript/HTML5 for game development (possibly using an engine such as Phaser or EaselJS).
    • Experience in writing and debugging scripts in C# using Unity.

    Junior Artist

    Plug-in Media is looking to find a Junior Artist to come and work in our busy studio in the heart of central Brighton. We have a full slate of diverse and exciting gaming and animation projects across several platforms, and are looking for some extra support across these projects.

    Plug-in Media is a quadruple-BAFTA winning production studio with a reputation for producing work of the highest quality. We make games, apps, animation and interactive experiences for an enviable international client list consisting of the biggest names in entertainment both across the UK and in the USA. Our busy studio has a positive and cheerful atmosphere, where everyone’s voice is heard. It’s true to say that while everyone here works hard, we all have a lot of fun doing it!     As our Junior Artist, you’ll have great enthusiasm for the games and animation industries, a strong portfolio showing an excellent level of drawing ability. You will be familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash/Animate. Any experience with 3D software or Unity is not essential but would be a great bonus!

    Key responsibilities:

    To assist Plug-in Media’s creative department in the production of art assets and animation for interactive and linear projects. Your tasks will involve:

  • Creating visual assets
  • Character design
  • Animation
  • Ideas development
  • Helping to prepare graphics for pitches
  • Concept designs
  • General mucking-in on live projects!
