The Children's Media Conference 2019

19th June 2019

This year, we are delighted to offer our expertise at The CMC (The Children's Media Conference). Running from Tuesday 2nd July 2019 - Thursday 4th July 2019, The CMC is the UK's only gathering that connects delegates involved in developing and distributing content for kids across all media platforms.

The conference theme for this year is Limitless, embodying how the creative minds and imaginations of children knows no bounds. Reflecting this free and forward style of thinking, kids' access to both entertainment and educational content is also becoming near-limitless as the digital world is becoming more expansive.

Offering a space which shares specialist industry insight and information on kids' media consumption, the conference opens up discussions about the relationship between all sectors producing content for kids.

Long-term supporters of the conference, Plug-In Media staff Juliet, Dom, Carys and Lauren are involved with the following Sessions:

Our Plug-In Media MD Juliet will be part of a panel analysing how the merchandise and licensing industry is adapting to the digital era. With the rise of E-commerce and direct-to-consumer retail, brands are developing new marketing strategies and approaches to getting product to consumers. At this session, meet brand owners doing it for themselves: toy designers, e-shop sellers and developers of D2C platforms.

After the launch of our award-winning Get Well Soon Hospital app designed to reassure and comfort children about their first hospital trips in 2016, we understand how digital games can make a difference to children's awareness of health. With this know-how, Dom will be taking part in a panel exploring the link between media and health. Discussing health-themed Virtual Reality, digital games, teddy bear hospitals and TV programmes, this session will explore how the media can help to educate children and their families about the body, fitness and coping with illness.

This session, produced by Lauren, will see journalist Stuart Dredge discussing the latest children's tech trends. From Snapchat games and TikTok influencers to VR Super Mario and AR Harry Potter, the session will ponder the huge diversity of inventive kids' products that are emerging in 2019. How is cutting-edge technology attracting contemporary young audiences? Who are they watching on YouTube and Twitch? What are the upcoming tech trends?
