OPERATION OUCH: CLONE WARDS

Client: BBC

Hot on the heels of our Broadcast Digital award winning Snot Apocalypse game,  CBBC commissioned us to create a brand new Operation Ouch gaming experience – Operation Ouch: Clonewards.

Set in a bustling hospital environment the day after the Snot Apocalypse, Clonewards casts the player in the role of hospital manager, assigning them the responsibility of organising all of the hospital’s resources; including doctors, nurses, specialists and hospital beds. The objective? To treat patients as quickly and as effectively as possible!

Key to the player’s role is the secret cloning machine Chris and Xand have discovered in the hospital basement. A permanent fixture, the Cloning Room allows the player to create new staff members. The gender, hair and skin tone of the clones are randomized, however players can also choose a different combination of body parts for their clones to create a truly personalised experience.

Just as in real life, players must manage patients through different parts of the hospital – starting in diagnosis, moving through to treatment, and finally entering recovery when they’re on the mend. As players treat more and more patients and successfully navigate their way through different illnesses, ailments and epidemics, they are able to extend their hospital, creating new rooms, wards and ultimately expanding its capacity and capabilities. Players need to be careful though; if they allow the hospital to be overwhelmed, chaos will ensue and the game will be over!

Launched on the CBBC website in March 2018, Clonewards has been a huge success from the outset. It currently has over 22k reaction emojis on the CBBC website and these are rising daily. User comments are testament to the game’s popularity:

“I Love This Game!!! ? ?”, “Love the new game!!???❤♠♥???”, “I love this and have treated over 1000 patients”, “307 patients and on level 35.WOW”, “It’s the best game I have ever played in my life”.

Head over to the CBBC website now to take charge of your very own hospital!
